Path Laying - May 5, 2001With the dome now in place all efforts are focused on turning the Gifford into an operational Observatory. Now that the roof is sealed and the internal observing floor in place a window has been installed and even on the rare occasions when it rains in Wellington work can continue.
The plan today was to relay the path through the enclosure to the observatory door to both reduce the gradient and to open up more space for future expansion. Initially there was some discussion concerning the correct approach
but once Marilyn provided the necessary motivation
the work progressed enthusiastically if a tad moistly.
